This site is dedicated to the memory of Jean Smurthwaite.
Jean Smurthwaite was born in Crook, County Durham on July 14, 1940. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family. She was a truely inspirational person and I am so glad to have known her and been apart of her life.

Thoughts
One of the nicest things I have ever heard was our Gavin at Auntie Jean's funeral. He seemed to say everything we all were thinking. As we get older ourselves, I think we all appreciate how special her parents, our grandparents were, and I personally think it has shaped all our families today. I know that for one, I faced a pregnancy where I was told I could be expecting a 'Down's' child as an older mother. Thanks to Auntie Jean, we just thought 'bring it on!'

I wish everyday that Steph could have met my Aunt Jean, then i think she might not have been very well liked! Like my Aunt J said "I'm your Mother and don't you forget it!"....I think she might have been a bit jealous of Steph, but only at first, then she would have loved her!
